Song Choices

Anorexia Nervosa
I have decided to use the song Seventeen by Ladytron for this video as the lyrics are about the modelling industry and the pressure to stay young, beautiful and skinny. I used the song Controversy by Natalia Kills at random times in the film to show what the woman is feeling, and also what the media thinks of Anorexia, and the Controversy surrounding the disorder. I used a lyric from the song Problem, also by Natalia Kills. I used this to show public opinion on the character's breakdown. I used Stupid Girls by P!nk to convey what the character thinks of herself, and also what the public think of her. Below are all songs featured:

Depression
I used the song Heart by The Pretty Reckless during the first act which focuses on Depression. I used this song as I believe that it conveys the turmoil and hurt that people suffering with depression feel. Below is a lyric video for the song:

Dissociative Identity Disorder
I used numerous songs during the final act on DID. The song used throughout is an alternative version of the song Zombie by Natalia Kills used in the second episode of the short film series Love, Kills xx. I used this to create an eerie, mysterious and tense sound to the piece. I think this suits it well as builds the tension throughout, until at the end when the tension reaches a peak. I also use audio from Lady Gaga's 2010 Grammy's performance. I use the quote "What's going on?" to show how psychotic and crazy the character feels. Below are the songs I have used:

Ending

I have purposely left the end of my short film as a very sudden ending as I want it to climax, even though there is no linear narrative. No narrative is a very common feature of experimental film. I think that the ending is very dramatic and makes the audience very intrigued and will leave a lasting image.

Choosing a film poster

When making my film poster, I played around with a lot of different effects using the same image to see which effect would be striking and intriguing enough. These are the three posters I came up with.

In the end I decided on the second poster because I consulted with friends and my target audience, and the majority thought the darker poster was the most effective and the text stood out more.

Script for intro.

Ladies and gentlemen. What you are about to see is not a real life story, or a work of fiction.
It’s merely a showing of crazy bitches with a pill addiction.
Girls who have lost their mind, and those with nothing to find.
Their minds have deceived them, and for your viewing pleasure we show the mental mayhem.
However, don’t feel sympathetic, and definitely don’t mimic.
Some scenes were deleted or have been misplaced, for this we are oh so disgraced.
Now buckle up, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

This was partly inspired by the introduction to Britney Spears' Circus Tour. This is a video of it:

Health and Safety

As a health & safety precaution, when filming inside for the Dissociative Identity Disorder and Anorexia Nervosa acts, I taped down all wires. When filming outside, I was not using any wires but because I filmed it in an outside location, and because it was a cold night, we took regular breaks in which the actress would put on her coat and drink warm beverages to ensure that she did not become ill from being in the cold with no coat on.

Taglines

For my film poster I decided that I wanted a tagline, similar to my style model "Salt". I worked with a lot of ideas, here are just a few of the taglines I came up with:

Your mind is running rampant.
Are you stable?
Are you losing your mind?
Your mind is playing tricks on you.

I decided that "Are you losing your mind?" was the most effective because it intrigues the audience and makes them think about their mental state.

Making use of my style model

I have echoed a similar shot of my actress from the music video for Controversy by Natalia Kills. I have done this to make use of my style model, and to give it a more generic feel. I did this to show how the media takes advantage of models, and glorifies being skinny.

I have used a similar shot here to convey a similar message as the music video for Ride by Lana Del Rey, directed by Anthony Mandler. I wanted to show the message that the character is looking out, searching for something. Using the symbol of the road to suggest freedom. But even though she is close to the pavement, she is also not there. Meaning that she is trapped, most namely trapped by her mind and emotions.
