Taglines

For my film poster I decided that I wanted a tagline, similar to my style model "Salt". I worked with a lot of ideas, here are just a few of the taglines I came up with:

Your mind is running rampant.
Are you stable?
Are you losing your mind?
Your mind is playing tricks on you.

I decided that "Are you losing your mind?" was the most effective because it intrigues the audience and makes them think about their mental state.

Making use of my style model

I have echoed a similar shot of my actress from the music video for Controversy by Natalia Kills. I have done this to make use of my style model, and to give it a more generic feel. I did this to show how the media takes advantage of models, and glorifies being skinny.

I have used a similar shot here to convey a similar message as the music video for Ride by Lana Del Rey, directed by Anthony Mandler. I wanted to show the message that the character is looking out, searching for something. Using the symbol of the road to suggest freedom. But even though she is close to the pavement, she is also not there. Meaning that she is trapped, most namely trapped by her mind and emotions.

I am going to use the poster for Salt, starring Angelina Jolie, as the style model for my film poster.

Influences/style models for my short film

A major influence for the introduction of my short film is the beginning of the film The Rocky Horror Picture Show, directed by Jim Sharman. Below is the scene I was inspired by:

A major influence on my short film is the "Love, Kills xx" short film series directed by pop singer, actress, fashion icon and director Natalia Kills & Guillaume Dobet. These short films inspired me to create a piece focusing on women in trouble. Below is a clip of one of the episodes:

Another influence on me was the interlude films featured during Lady Gaga's Fame Ball and Monster Ball tours, directed by the Haus of Gaga. These films inspired me to take the subjects of my piece, and demonstrate them in a very Avant-Garde, off-the-wall method. I made use of screens in order to give a blank background so that the focus of the shot is the character. Below are examples of some of the interludes:

As well as representing mental disorders in an Avant-Garde way, I also wanted to show one mental disorder in a natural way, in a way that we could feel sorry for the character. In order to create this, I decided to take inspiration from Lana Del Rey's Ride video, directed by Anthony Mandler which was shown as a short film. I originally wanted to use a monologue similar to that of the video, but I later decided that this would not work so instead I used music to convey the emotions. Below is the video:
